Location Bangkok, Thailand Date Completed 06/2011 Interior Designer Orbit Design Studio Hotel Group St Regis / Starwood Hotels Overall Description of the project Italian fine dinning in 5* hotel in Asia. Extremely high level of detailing and fully custom furniture and accessories. (all by Orbit). Design Brief Create a feature restaurant fitting for the St Regis brand and heritage As the hotel is situated in the most prestigious road of Bangkok, opposite the Royal Sport Club and neighbouring the Four Seasons and Regent, the restaurant must offer a level of sophistication currently unavailable in the area. The food is Italian fine dining and the design needed to represent the full heritage of both the country and the cuisine. Favourite / Key aspect of the project The Italian heritage is represented through classic Carlo Scarp inspired geometry. This can be found in the intricate metal working and is mirrored in the custom lighting. Why does the design work so well? On a functional and commercial level it changes mood from a breezy deli to a slick nightclub through rotating panels. This doubles the potential markets for dining and ensures that Jojo is busy throughout the day and into the night. Design-wise, the level of detailing in intricate finishes are at a level that is simply not seen in Bangkok.
