3s Architects has completed an exceptional new build project in Hampshire, replacing a deteriorating 1970s single storey home with a contemporary five bedroom residence designed to harmonise with its rural surroundings and nearby Grade II Listed buildings. Known as Poppy Field House, the 486 square metre home is set within a half hectare plot and showcases 3s Architects’ signature blend of refined detailing, environmental sensitivity, and spatial elegance.

Environmental performance was a core focus for 3s Architects, who integrated air source heat pumps, photovoltaics, high performance glazing, underfloor heating, and a mechanical ventilation and heat recovery system. The house combines a steel and masonry ground floor with a timber framed upper floor for both structural efficiency and aesthetic warmth.

The facades present a deliberate contrast, with dark brick and limestone render providing privacy to the north and east, and expansive glass and copper cladding to the south and west celebrating openness and light. The patinated copper elements echo the tones of nearby silver birch trees, grounding the home in its natural setting while offering a bold contemporary expression.
