Brian Worthington and Associates approached the restoration of this early 20th‑century Long Island country house with a deep respect for its architectural heritage and its connection to the Taft family. Their design intent centred on creating interiors that felt harmonious with the home’s historic exterior, using beautifully scaled furniture and a palette that allowed the natural surroundings to remain the star. Almost all furnishings were antique or vintage pieces sourced from the UK and France, chosen to balance quiet luxury with authenticity. Cashmere walling, a monochromatic backdrop, and a thoughtful blend of British modern art with 18th‑ and early 19th‑century elements established an atmosphere of understated elegance that aligned with both the designers’ philosophy and the clients’ vision.
