Residential £2.5-5 Million Market Value Gatton Residences by Archiphilic

Archiphilic has unveiled The Gatton Residences, a pair of luxury new build family homes in Surrey that successfully combine Arts and Crafts architecture with contemporary living, sustainable design and a strong commitment to local craftsmanship. Situated within the curtilage of a Grade II Listed building, the development was carefully conceived to complement the area’s historic character while meeting strict conservation requirements and creating homes designed for modern family life.

Throughout the project, Archiphilic focused on blending traditional building methods and locally sourced materials with light filled contemporary interiors. Stone, roof tiles and timber were sourced from the surrounding area wherever possible, supporting local trades while reducing the environmental impact of construction. The homes were designed to encourage indoor outdoor living, making the most of natural light and the shade provided by the site’s mature protected trees.

Rather than imposing themselves on the sloping landscape, the homes respond naturally to the terrain. Archiphilic developed floor plans that adapt to the changing topography, creating engaging transitions between internal mezzanine levels and cascading outdoor spaces. Generous room proportions, elevated ceiling heights and carefully considered dormers enhance the sense of openness, while thoughtful use of colour and tonal variation creates distinctive moments as residents move through each space.

Sustainability is embedded throughout the design. Archiphilic incorporated passive cooling strategies, including automated skylights that promote the stack effect, allowing warm air to rise naturally through the homes before dissipating. This approach reduces energy consumption while improving year round comfort. The surrounding landscape has also been enhanced through the planting of native trees, shrubs and hedgerows to encourage biodiversity, alongside bird boxes installed within retained trees to provide additional nesting habitats.

By respecting the local vernacular, embracing the natural landscape and celebrating regional craftsmanship, Archiphilic has created two refined residences that feel timeless, environmentally responsible and perfectly suited to contemporary family living.
