Aspen & Ivy reinterpreted the classic Muskoka retreat through a contemporary lens, creating The View Lakehouse as a warm, layered and durable home deeply connected to its landscape. The 5,500-square-foot new build brings together stone, wood, dark metal, soft textiles and carefully crafted finishes to create a striking yet comfortable retreat that reflects the lifestyle of its owners.

The designer approached the project with a strong focus on the relationship between architecture, interiors and the surrounding environment. Perched high on a hill above the water, the home uses full-height windows to frame sweeping lake views, while a natural palette of stone, wood and textured neutrals draws inspiration from the surrounding rock, forest and water. At the shoreline, a contemporary boathouse extends the experience of living by the lake.

Aspen & Ivy carefully balanced modern architectural details with warmth, comfort and everyday functionality. Durable materials, thoughtful layouts and comfortable furnishings allow the home to support both quiet weekends and large family gatherings, creating a space that feels effortless while remaining highly practical for cottage living.
