The renovation of a dated beach house along the Old Atlantic Way in beautiful West Cork, Ireland, was undertaken by CDC Interiors as a comprehensive transformation project. Surrounded by spectacular sea views, the property offered immense potential to become a peaceful and refined coastal retreat. CDC Interiors was commissioned to oversee the complete refurbishment of the home for clients from Chicago, USA, who had recently purchased the property for over two million euros as their first home in Ireland. Their ambition was not only to renovate the house but also to create a place that would support a slower, more restorative lifestyle away from their demanding global schedules.

The International Design & Architecture Awards 2026
The clients envisioned a relaxing holiday destination where they could unwind, recharge, and spend meaningful time with their young family. At the same time, the home needed to accommodate gatherings with extended family and friends. CDC Interiors carefully interpreted this brief, ensuring that the tranquility and serenity of the surrounding coastal landscape were reflected within the interior design. The expansive exterior views became a central inspiration, influencing the overall atmosphere and spatial experience throughout the home.
The firm was involved from concept through to turnkey completion. The property was stripped back to its structural framework and completely rebuilt to meet the clients’ vision. Externally, the project included the addition of a bespoke sauna area, a putting green, a carport, garages for storage, landscaped outdoor spaces, and a covered outdoor barbecue area designed for entertaining.
Internally, CDC Interiors reimagined every space within the house. A bespoke hand-painted kitchen, utility room, and boot room were designed and handcrafted by the CDC Renovations joinery team. All bathrooms, bedrooms, and living spaces were renovated, alongside the creation of a baby grand piano room, study, cinema, and games room. The firm also curated all furnishings, fittings, and finishes, delivering a fully realized coastal home from conception to completion.
