Conceived as a place where family, friends and landscape come together effortlessly, the project reflects a careful balance between casual living and elevated design, suited to its dramatic oceanfront setting.

The International Design & Architecture Awards 2026
Della and Zella Interiors worked closely with the client and contractor to streamline and modernise the interiors while preserving a warm, welcoming atmosphere. The renovation involved a complete reorganisation of the kitchen and primary suite, alongside full updates to finishes, lighting and mechanical systems. The result is a home that feels entirely renewed, calm and cool at any time of day, yet deeply connected to its location and cultural context.
Natural materials anchor the design throughout. Layered textures of wood, stone and woven elements echo the surrounding coastal environment, while a restrained, sun washed palette allows the architecture and expansive ocean views to take centre stage. Subtle contrasts were introduced to add depth and character without overwhelming the sense of ease. Furnishings were chosen for comfort and durability, encouraging lingering conversations, barefoot afternoons and seamless transitions between indoor and outdoor living.
The heart of the home is organised around gathering. Open living, dining and kitchen spaces flow directly onto the back patio, dissolving boundaries and making entertaining feel intuitive. Generous seating zones support both lively celebrations and quieter family moments. Outside, the patio becomes a natural extension of the interior, offering uninterrupted views of the ocean where migrating whales can be seen just beyond the shoreline.
Through this project, Della and Zella Interiors successfully delivered the clients’ wishes while embracing the spirit of Mexican culture and lifestyle. The finished home celebrates a modern coastal way of living defined by connection, comfort and a strong sense of place.
