This beautiful two-storey home features contemporary design intertwined with many elevated traditional elements. Unexpected touches reveal the character and design style of the owners—gorgeous crown detailing, a backlit onyx slab in the dining room and vaulted beams in the master bedroom surprise and delight as you walk through this gorgeous home.

Custom furnishings — by Holly Hunt and Stewart Drummond, respectively—and some hand-selected pieces by Martha Sturdy, are showcased perfectly in this custom home. Lighting fixtures—John Pomp in kitchen and dining room, and Ridgely Studio in the stairwell—are bold, prominent and interesting, blending character and function. There are fully integrated indoor/outdoor living spaces feature sliding doors to a heated outdoor patio complete with built-in BBQ and fireplace and a private, fully landscaped yard.

The layering of details is a central theme of this home. Layers connect tones with design. Stonework sets off details and textures. There is beautiful integration here, without dimming the brilliance of individual design pieces. Natural stone and wood work blends beautifully with gorgeous landscaping. Spacious and functional outdoor living spaces capitalize on the area’s natural beauty. Some of Rockwood Custom Home’s favourite aspects of this project include; the awe-inspiring entryway with custom front door, double-sided fireplace between dining room and living room with a custom wine wall built into its side and dining room bar and backlit countertops with layered details, adding texture and interest.
