The seaside lifestyle of coastal California serves as a background to the Show Apartment “Monterey O’South”. Created for a young, small family, the Show Apartment is a study of West-coast aesthetics inspired by beach houses and yacht design, combined with via’s signature ethos of “visible craft”.

The entire apartment is imagined as one free-flowing space for living, relaxing, working, hobbies, and entertaining. A palette of light oak, fabric and wallcoverings in various shades of blue, glittering metals including brass, come together to create a nautical, light and airy ambience. In the living & dining areas, the bespoke floor pattern is an interpretation of timber decking on sail yachts, crafted in precious stones in a radiating pattern. Elements from yacht design are also evident in the ceiling profile, banquette design, and master bedroom ambience, while a feature glass panel with abstract palm silhouette makes an artistic statement in the living room. The Kitchen is turned into a lifestyle centre with bar area, and the use of glass partitions integrate the kitchen space into the living & dining areas.

A guest bedroom, a hobby room, and a master suite make the best use of the rectangular shape of the apartment. Shades of greys and brass adorn the guest bedroom, whilst wallpaper with sail boat graphic spells out the owner’s interests in the hobby room. The master suite is complete with its own dressing area and closet, as well as an opulent bathroom defined by glass partitions. Precious materials – onyx, shagreen, leather, and marbles – are used throughout to give the apartment a luxurious touch.
