Project Name: Westbourne Pad

Location: London W2

Date Completed: December 2015

Interior Designer: Prestige Architects

Architect: Prestige Architects

This project involved a complete refurbishment and reconfiguration of existing one bedroom apartment. The client, Manhattan Bond, is a developer hence the attention to a fine balance between design and budget which has been very successful as the project was completed on time and on budget. The property consisted of a living room and kitchen, a bedroom, and a bathroom, thanks to a careful re planning of the space we managed to create and additional guest powder room and completely dedicate the existing bathroom as an en-suite for the master bedroom.

The building is Grade II listed hence the attention to the original fabric was a must but not without challenge. In the living room the original floor has been kept, repaired and stained. The required fire door has been hidden within a partition so to disappear. The bedroom area has been redesigned with a full wardrobe with panelling and suede to create a continuity within the space. The chandeliers in the living room and bedroom also give the visual connection between the spaces.

The master bathroom has been increased and clad with stone tiles and mosaic, a bespoke unit in the same style of the vanity unit hide the boiler and the washing machine maximising the space with style. Detail is key for Prestige Architects’ projects and seeking a specific design element that the eye can follow through is part of their fingerprint. In this particular project this element is identified by an oak bead detail. This is present in all the internal bespoke doors and the joinery creating continuity. The design of the bespoke units and the selected colour palette create a great setting of the original restored elements such as fireplaces and cornices.
