Hancock Architects design brief was to provide a new kitchen that was more in keeping with the existing townhouse. The Town house is a 5- level townhouse located in a converted old church. The design needed to be proportional in size and scale and to a level of finish suitable and appropriate to the nature of the home.

The kitchen was to become more predominate in the space. The original kitchen was small and hidden away and not suitable in style and finish for a home of this caliber. It was to be completely functional yet distinctively unique and elegant.

Hancock Architects favourites aspect of the project is the combination of the materials and how they all work together. As a whole, the material mix provides a sense of elegant luxury whilst maintaining a level of simplicity. The design provides a large proportional kitchen that is perfectly functional and encapsulates a sense of elegance and style. It allows the kitchen to become an integral part of the home that becomes a gathering and central focal point. Whilst it provides the necessary functional requirements of everyday use, the design allows the kitchen to also be a beautiful elegant object located within the room.

The neutral tones combined with the gold accents compliment and accentuate the materials of the old church – the aged sandstone walls and steel windows.
