Trenzseater were commissioned to complete the full interior design package for a new architectural build, set on a prestigious, stream boundary site in Christchurch, New Zealand. The architecture was designed to a high specification and Trenzseater were briefed to ensure the interiors complemented the architecture without compromise. The brief was to present something that was new and exciting, something that was unexpected and had not been seen before. The designers were tasked with trying to bring intriguing layers of texture and design to all elements of the interior whilst creating a space that was useable, not precious and could easily be lived in by the clients.

For Trenzseater, the interior design project included some architectural elements with a marble entrance wall being installed. The designers were also to incorporate design elements in the kitchens and bathrooms, door hardware, lighting, flooring, window furnishings, wallcoverings and the furniture and interior furnishings. Trenzseater believe that the key aspect of this project was collaborating with the client to ensure all elements of the design and architecture worked cohesively in harmony, whilst also pushing the boundaries of the design to offer something unique and unexpected.

Trenzseater believe they have delivered an interior which is inspiring, it is layered with intriguing textures and materials, sophisticated finishes and details which offer the client something personal and curate. The designers achieved this through the use of natural stone in flooring, bathrooms and kitchen, brushed brass tapware and door hardware, Oak parquet flooring and the use of dark chocolate American oak timbers in the joinery, doors and furniture. Trenzseater used a lot of natural seagrass wallpapers from Ralph Lauren with metallic backgrounds along with flocked velvet and glass beading wallpapers.

All spaces feature bespoke designed furniture pieces, finished in luxurious velvets, flocked velvets, fine wools, and antiqued leather, complemented with the timber and high gloss tables which were finished with an extensive use of European rugs, mirrors, and accessories. The use of beautiful exquisite chandeliers in various rooms is prominent, along with accent table and floor lamps. With all their projects Trenzseater ensure there is a sophisticated balance of layers to give interest, detail, and timeless elegance. They believe it’s the details which offer refinement, personality, balance, character, and luxury.
