For Colorado Coastal, extensive custom furniture and finishes were created to solve specific needs in each room, which makes the magic for this project. In the main living area, two custom sectionals mirror each other to fill the expansive space between the kitchen island, fireplace, and 2 walls of glass doors leading outside. This solved the problem of how to apply seating to a room with multiple focal and access points.

Andrea Schumacher Interiors also had to appropriately incorporate many pieces from the client’s existing art collection used in their previous homes. This is the third house Andrea has completed for this client, and it was a challenge to repurpose existing collections into homes with diverging styles. A fresh take on a poker room was designed to show off the client’s collection of antique chairs and original pieces by Dr. Seuss. Crisp white walls create an art gallery feel while a wall of windows and a door leading outside ensures the room does not take itself too seriously.

The luxurious interiors also need to keep up with the family’s opposing needs for durability and personality. Everything had to withstand young children, dogs, cats and adults who loved to entertain. Also, the home opens generously to the outdoors in every living space. It needed proper protection from all the elements of a life well lived. Hardy materials such as cowhide, lambswool and leather were used to withstand indoor/outdoor living, entertaining and small children.

Andrea Schumacher Interiors created unique spaces to specifically meet the family’s vision for how the home would be used. Many of their needs and goals did not translate into common or current trends in luxury home design. The team thoroughly enjoyed the challenge of creating unexpected solutions to bring the clients dreams to life. The wine bar/island adjacent to the formal dining area is not typical to residential construction. Given the strong presence of the wine room nearby, the wine bar offers guests a lovely place to linger and enjoy drinks before sitting down for dinner.

The overall look of the home is fresh, inviting and luxurious with just the right blend of function, sophistication and personalized style.
