The full renovation was to create an open plan living space with harmonious interiors that worked for the whole family. The brief from the client needed to ensure that the kitchen design synchronized well with the modern architecture of their newly refurbished home. Large windows at the front of the house welcome you into the open plan living space of the kitchen, dining and lounge areas. The kitchen area needed to be family friendly, that balanced well with her soft furnishings, ArtHouse Creative Interiors wanted the design to have an elegant yet classical feel.

The designer was mindful of working with the dark wooden floor that was going to be installed throughout the whole ground floor. The SieMatic’s S2L Lotus white Lacquer furniture with elements of smoked oak and the introduction of Nickel Gloss Glass cabinets gave symmetry and asymmetry which harmonized together with seemingly opposing styles.

During the design process ArtHouse Creative Interiors was concerned that the main back wall may look too heavy filled with cabinetry. So, the designer came up with an idea in which they could incorporate two long slim windows either side of the sink run. This was greatly received as it broke up the expanse and created zones for ‘Refrigeration – wet area sink/ dishwashers – larders and cooking area however this introduced a new challenge as there were no tolerances along the back wall.  The designers brought in more light relief by installing a grey mirror behind the sink with open shelving above and also incorporating a mirror TV which is viewed when sitting at the breakfast bar.

The beautiful Neolith Estatuario worktops are a showstopper, the 6.8-meter-long island including dropped down table was book match and the front downturn/return legs down to the floor and dropped down table were also vein match. These fine details really added an element of luxury to the project. All the materials worked really well together and more importantly the kitchen harmonized perfectly with the whole ground floor living space.
