Project Name: Cloisters – Family Home

Location: London, United Kingdom

Date Completed: July 2019

Interior Designer: Hill House Interiors

As with a lot of their business, this project came through a recommendation from one of Hill House Interiors’ previous clients. The overseas owners appointed Hill House Interiors to design a striking family home from home, which combines practicality with an original, transitional design. They were looking for a home that was as welcoming and comfortable as it was impressive, with a few pops of colour and a clear focus on maximising the space available.

Hill House Interiors worked closely with the client to establish their individual styles and tastes, and presented them tactile design schemes, luxury finishes and bespoke joinery designs.

The vast main reception room leading through to a formal dining space was a core focus of the project, with the Hill House team tasked with creating a natural flow between the open plan reception rooms, but ensuring the whole family could utilise the space together.

Hill House are advocates of creating timeless interiors with considered combinations of texture and pattern in all their projects. In the ever-evolving world of interior design, there are continually innovative and exciting new products, discovered through Hill House Interior’s dedication to research and exploration in the industry and beyond, which is later implemented in their growing project portfolio. Although the homeowner had never worked with an interior designer previously, the design team were given creative free reign with this turnkey project!

Having recently completed a trip to Marrakesh, the Hill House design team found themselves inspired by the rich, gold tones and accents found in the spice markets and souks. The warm palette inspired a design scheme for the double aspect reception room, complemented beautifully by the existing dark oak flooring. The neutral tones and splash of burnt orange are enhanced with hints of brushed brass in the bespoke furniture and joinery – the open display apertures feature an artisan liquid metal finish in champagne and gold tones, with layers upon layers of texture, which is brought to life with integrated lighting.

Each individual piece of furniture incorporates subtle design details, such as brushed brass sofa plinths and fluted upholstery. The overall design creates a transitional space which allows the clients to comfortably entertain guests of an evening, host social gatherings and enjoy quiet family moments with their young children.
