The clients of this Hyde Park property moved in around 15 years ago after it was fully furnished by a previous interior designer. Over the years, the clients felt that the interior had aged, it was too dark, grey and washed out for their taste. Juliette Byrne Ltd were enlisted for a complete redesign of the property.

The complete redecoration included new paint colours throughout the communal areas and light textured wallpapers in the bedrooms. In the dining area, Juliette Byrne selected a Fromental wallpaper with a butterfly motif on the feature fireplace wall, which happened to be one of the client’s favourite aspects. It was important to keep the interiors open and airy, so the remaining walls features a muted wallpaper with a slight shimmer to reflect the light coming in from the windows around the room, as the apartment looks out over Hyde Park.

The designers kept the colour schemes light and fresh with pops of accent colour in items such as artwork and cushions to give more depth and interest. The joinery items that the Juliette Byrne design team built for the client’s large shoe, clothes and bag collection incorporated light into both the interior and exterior. The designers also added a beautiful Ochre pendant light at the top of the stairs and low-level spotlights on every other stair tread going up the stairs.

As the clients are predominantly located in South East Asia, Juliette Byrne and her team had only met them once before choosing all the new furniture, lighting and artwork, but the client was very trusting and signed off everything by email. Usually, the designers encourage the clients to try out the furniture and see the fabrics in person, but the client was perfectly happy for the design team to make the selections for her, which allowed them to be as creative as possible. The client was extremely pleased with the outcome, thanks to the good working relationship that evolved with the clients.
