Inspired by the homeowner’s treasure trove of beautiful things, Ocean Mount by Emerge Design is a decidedly electric take on ornate, mid-century French provincial interior design. This project had a very specific direction from the client, who had a deeply comprehensive vision for her home, and needed a design firm that could work intimately with her to realise that style.

A luxe, modern, french provincial design was to permeate the entire home; the client wanted her house to feel like her personal palace. In addition to using her antiques (such as the William Switzer cabinets and the Schonbek chandelier), Emerge Design selected new furnishings and accessories to complement her existing pieces. Ornate architectural features, surface ornamentation and adding the finest of details elevates the design to new luxuries; every room is a sumptuous, meticulously considered experience.

Emerge Design’s client requested that purple—her favourite colour—be featured throughout. In addition, a set of precious stones in gold, opal, amethyst, emerald, and turquoise were shared as inspiration for the colour palette. This directive assisted in bringing the required intensity and drama to a style that is traditionally more muted. The homeowner also requested a secondary theme of exotic animals, resulting in delightful details such as gilded lion head kitchen pulls and peek-a-boo monkey wallpaper. A mix of lavish textures and flowing motifs further punctuate the home’s charisma.

By creating a home which is vibrant, and full of personality, Emerge Design has produced an interior project which is unexpected within it’s Canadian coastal environment. Ocean Mount has been designed for the homeowner, looking to her vast collection of antiques, art, accessories, and textiles for inspiration, and brings a different design to Canadian style. This project is luxurious and elegant yet modern; the open concept living area an inviting place to relax, entertain, and enjoy the expansive ocean view beyond.
