Project Name: The Victorian Rectory Kitchen

Location: Hampshire, United Kingdom

Date Completed: April 2019

Kitchen Designer: Paul Endacott, Designer at deVOL Kitchens

Kitchen Furniture: deVOL Kitchens

This kitchen is full of character and charm, it’s the perfect representation of deVOL Kitchens’ Classic English range of furniture. A kitchen with everything, this room is so full of soul, it has truly epitomised and cleverly shown us all what a piece of deVOL Classic English furniture is all about. It appears as part of the original house rather than a newly fitted kitchen.

The owners purchased an old Victorian rectory in 2018 and quickly set about restoring and renovating the place carefully and sympathetically. With a building this old, there are bound to be unusual sizes and features to deal with. The ceilings were impressively high, there was an original brick feature in the far-right corner of the kitchen, a huge window with shutters – many parts of this design needed attention and a very careful eye and approach to design was crucial.

The owners needed the kitchen to be hard-wearing and easy to use. A big family and collection of dogs live in this Victorian rectory, so this kitchen will get a lot of use every single day, it absolutely had to be fully functional and a pleasure to be in. The clients came to deVOL Kitchens with just one thing set in stone for their kitchen design, their beautifully unique fluted ceramic sink. They also knew deVOL’s Classic English range of furniture would be right for their space, this collection is bespoke so is ideal for older properties with slightly unusual sizes or features.

The owners wanted a kitchen that would blend seamlessly into its impressive surroundings, and yet feel a little different and unexpected too. It needed to be classic but memorable, designed using the best furniture and materials and finished with the loveliest mix of accessories, both vintage and new.

Each piece of cabinetry is made to required and recommended dimensions and can be painted in any shade the customer wishes. It really was the perfect choice for this beautiful old rectory, the range is beautifully crafted and built to last a lifetime. For the colour, the owners went with Pantry Blue, a dark rich shade from the Shaker collection. It’s a lovely colour and works especially well in dark spaces. Everything about this space is spot on and just what the owners wanted. It’s classic and feels totally authentic and yet a little bold and striking too, it’s the perfect combination of traditional and unexpected.
