This dazzling bespoke lighting piece was created by Yellow Goat Design, alongside Hines. The Custom Floe Light Fixture was designed for Williams Tower in Houston, Texas based on their Digiprinted Floe Design, but with customisation and consideration for the lobby area that it would be situated in.

This icy mass is both beautiful and dangerous. Its journey is only ended with the passage of time as it merges with the ocean to become a single body of water teeming with aquatic life. Made with digitally printed acrylic suspended in perfect formation, Floe is a reminder of the transitory world of nature and the perfection in brief moments of change. The location and placement of Yellow Goat Design’s fixture is perfect as it showcases the moment, movement, flow, and transitions that this piece takes on as the light changes.

The piece was made by Yellow Goat Design’s team of highly trained artisans and designers. Not only did they have to customise and conceptualise the piece to fit the scale and look of the space, they also made a custom digital design for the fixture, printed, and built the entire piece in house at Yellow Goat Design.

The custom Floe Light is placed to encompass the area and becomes a design element that runs through the lobby. It ties the colder, more austere stone building together with a softening, biophilic element. Yellow Goat Design embraced the opportunity to expand and customise their original design for Williams Tower, which now spans both sides of the lobby space in branded blue to match the overall design look of the space. Having the piece seen at this scale is extremely rewarding for the designers.
