The Paula sofa is extremely appealing to the eye no matter what angle you see it from. It is a poetic sculpture as well as a comfortable retreat zone inviting for interaction such as touching, sitting, floating or lying down. The design is inspired from the shape of a cylinder and an overall interest in people’s interaction with products, especially the sofa, which Line Nevers Krabbenhøft see as the heart of home.

Many sketches of a horizontal cylinder shape were done before it turned out to be the first raw sketch of Paula. Shaping it further at the proto sample stage and keeping on adjusting the lines, the proportions finally came out just right; a sofa looking fantastic from all angles as well as being comfortable and appealing both aesthetically and physically. The inside frame is hand built of FSC certified wood and has lifetime guarantee. It has high resistance HR foam, a recycled poly fibre padding and is upholstered with a woven boucle quality having a high abrasion resistance, all aspects making the product long lasting.

The design works so well as the lines and proportions work very well together, matching the comfort and total experience of the sofa. It is both trendy and classic – and it is appealing to both first movers and the more mainstream customers. It is both special and commercial at the same time – which is a quite unique characteristic. Depending on where and in what environment it is located it will with its appealing design language be more or less ‘loud’. That is some of the uniqueness of this design; it is not too special to take over from the environment where it is located, and it is not too ordinary to not be remembered.
