Project Name: Upper East Side Park Avenue Apartment

Location: New York, USA

Date Completed: October 2019

Interior Designer: Katie Lydon Interiors

Construction: DiSalvo Contracting

Katie Lydon Interiors completed the interiors of this elegant, timeless, and comfortable home on the Upper East side of Manhattan. The client had outgrown their existing pied-a-terre and wanted their new apartment to feel more like a home. The brief for the project was to create more space for socialising with family and friends, therefore the client needed a great kitchen to cook in, entertain in and space to spend time with their loved ones.

Every piece of furniture needed to be comfortable, chic, durable and the clients wanted the entire apartment to be in this lovely, soft, gentle, and serene palate. They love mixed and layered materials and asked the designers to consider ways of doing this effectively. Katie Lydon Interiors created stone panelling and the beautiful horizontal polished nickel bands on the wall to give architecture as well as great new moulding and custom paint finishes. The artwork displayed also played a large role in creating the unique character of the space.

They also needed a great office for the husband who works from home and his office was a rich and warm combination of a dressing room and workspace. All the bathrooms were redone as well to reflect the serene nature of the space. The master bathroom has a beautiful soaking tub to wash away the strains of living and working in New York.

The client had a clear vision for the apartment whilst also allowing the designers to bring many ideas to the table. Katie Lydon Interiors particularly enjoyed working together with the clients on this project and they were able to design a space that flows so well. This Park Avenue apartment provides a much needed sense of calm within the hustle and bustle of a large, urban city.
