Project Name: Venetian Islands

Location: Miami, USA

Date Completed: July 2020

Interior Designer: Michel Colaço

The brief for Michel Colaço Interior Architecture and Design was to produce a design scheme for the interiors of a new build property in one of Miami’s most exclusive residential areas, Venetian Islands. The property was designed to maximise incredible views of the sea, the harbour and the city of Miami, so the overriding aim was to produce a scheme which responded to and celebrated these, creating an environment which enhances views to the outside at the same time as reflecting the lifestyle of the client and incorporating the vibrant colours and energy for which Miami is famous.

Michel Colaço Interior Architecture and Design achieved this by adopting a contemporary aesthetic, focused on Italian furniture, embodying the most timeless and chic aspects of understated contemporary design. Working closely with the architect, a careful selection of finishes, lighting and accessories were used to complement and enhance the external views, while coordinated schemes for different areas flows throughout the house, connecting each part with a curated collection of contemporary design pieces.

The integration of outside and the inside creates light and airy open plan spaces which are in tune with the client’s relaxed and informal lifestyle, which more secluded and intimate spaces were created in the bedrooms on the top floor of the house, each with a private toilets and verandas, using a more subdued textured/colour palette.

Michel Colaço Interior Architecture and Design believe that the design works so well because it reflects the client’s personality and lifestyle whilst simultaneously having strong connections with its surroundings and the local natural environment.
