Abigail Reay Interiors was responsible for the interior architecture, interior design, and project coordination of the home. The client’s main request was to transform the property into a sophisticated and refined pied-a-terre, a place to stay, relax, and entertain when in the city. The aim was to create a haven of tranquillity amidst the bustling central London environment.

To achieve the client’s vision, Abigail Reay Interiors provided a full turn-key design service, which included sourcing all furnishings and artwork. They stripped back the early 2000s built property to its core structure, designed new lighting and electrical layouts, and installed underfloor heating throughout. Maximizing storage was also crucial to the client, given the limited space in the existing layout. The company designed a bespoke walnut and marble joinery piece in the living room to anchor the double-height space. It provided drawers, display shelving, cupboards, and a drinks cabinet and also housed all audio-visual equipment.

Abigail Reay Interiors also reoriented the principal bedroom layout and created a large storage cupboard beneath the stairs. The design firm selected Italian furniture and natural materials as the bones of the interior design, reflecting the client’s passion. The client’s love for contemporary art also influenced the company’s sourcing of several pieces from galleries and art fairs. The carefully curated collection of art and furniture complemented each other and created the perfect palette for the space.

The company provided a full furniture, fixtures, and equipment (FF&E) package as part of the turn-key project, sourcing all furniture, linens, kitchenware, and accessories. The kitchen was also stocked with store cupboard essentials, making the house ready for use by the client upon completion.

One of the most impressive aspects of the project was the harmony created across the spaces. Abigail Reay Interiors paid close attention to redesigning the lighting and window treatments to maximize daylight in the property and ensure it felt cozy at all times of the day. The journey between rooms was also carefully balanced, creating a seamless flow throughout the property.

Abigail Reay Interiors successfully delivered a sophisticated and refined pied-a-terre that met the client’s brief. Their meticulous attention to detail, quality of materials, and custom-designed furniture pieces have created a harmonious and relaxing space in the heart of Clerkenwell.
