The contemporary black brick cladded villa in central Israel was designed by the architect firm Dana Oberson Architects LTD. They took on the challenge of designing a house on an irregularly shaped corner lot, requiring a complex program with specific attention to detail. The design process involved a dialogue between the architects, clients, and the location. The architects aimed to analyze the customers’ needs and create a plan that would serve them well.

The result is a unique house that accompanies its residents and guests differently. The house has two entrances, the main entrance, and the secondary entrance that leads to the pantry, service kitchen, toilets, and elevator. The main entrance opens to a wide foyer that connects the different areas of the house. The foyer divides the house into two areas; the formal living and dining spaces on the left, and the day-to-day life spaces on the right.

The spaces on the left are characterized by almost monochromatic materials, creating a more formal atmosphere. The formal living and dining spaces are rarely used, creating a clear division between the spaces and allowing a sense of home in each of them separately. The spaces on the right, which include the kitchen, dining area, and family area, are designed to be the center of the house, creating a more intimate feeling.

The architecture of the house is unique, with a slightly tough facade made up of three U-shaped elements covered in black bricks, disconnected from one another by elements of glass and black iron. The facade is softened by stained Corten mashrabiyas that cover the glass facades, revealing and hiding what is happening inside the house. The slightly battered, cracked brick covering gives the house a more rustic and lived-in feeling.

In conclusion, Dana Oberson Architects LTD designed a unique, contemporary black brick cladded villa that serves its residents’ needs. The architecture, interior design, and planning are all unique, creating a house that is more than just a structure.
