Isla James Interiors has once again demonstrated its prowess in the realm of interior design with the completion of Phase Two of an extensive project. The focus of this phase, completed last year, was to enhance the Master suite, Guest bedroom suite, children’s bedrooms, landing, Drawing room, and Garden room of a traditional British country home. The brief called for a high-end finish that maintained the home’s traditional charm while incorporating a fresh, modern, and practical lighting scheme.

The Master suite is a standout feature, designed to combine the functionality of a hotel suite with the cosiness of a country retreat. Isla James Interiors included a raised bath and a hidden bar, creating a luxurious hideaway for the clients. The lighting design was meticulously crafted to set the right mood, offering flexibility to suit various needs and times of day.

In the children’s bedrooms, Isla James Interiors aimed to create inviting, personalized spaces. The son’s bedroom was transformed into a warm, cozy cocoon inspired by his love for the stars and the night sky, addressing his concerns about the room feeling cold and uninviting. The daughter’s bedroom was equally considered, with a special reading area and appropriate lighting to support her love for books.

The Drawing room was designed to be both formal and inviting, perfect for entertaining guests or quiet reading. Isla James Interiors ensured that the lighting highlighted the room’s architectural features, such as the fireplace elevation visible from the entry hall. The design included ceiling downlights to illuminate artwork, small uplights to accentuate the fireplace’s limestone curves, and feature lights in the bookcases to add warmth and coziness. A central glass pendant over the coffee table added a striking focal point.

The Garden room, connected to the Drawing room, required a seamless lighting transition. With its glass walls, the challenge was to ensure it felt warm and inviting at night. The lighting design followed the same principles as the Drawing room, creating a unified and inviting space for evening reading and relaxation.

Isla James Interiors approached the lighting design holistically, integrating it with the overall interior design from the outset. This unique approach ensured that the lighting and interiors complemented each other perfectly. Each room featured multiple layers of lighting, both architectural and feature, enhancing the ambiance and functionality. Full controllability of all lighting circuits allowed the client to create different moods at the touch of a button, adding to the home’s versatility.
