Cheshire Property Studio has recently completed an exquisite interior design project inspired by the serene beauty of Japan. The formal living room, designed to be both inviting and perfect for entertaining guests, showcases the studio’s talent for blending clever lighting, careful material choices, and bespoke joinery.

The client, an admirer of Ben Wu’s work, sought a design that fused modern aesthetics with oriental styling. The main brief was to seamlessly integrate the windows on either side of the fireplace into a bespoke media unit. Cheshire Property Studio achieved this by creating a unit that honours both functionality and aesthetics, becoming a central piece of the room.

Materiality was paramount in this space. The sleek and linear cabinetry combines a variety of materials and textures, adding depth and interest. Finishes range from faux silk to grass cloth to timber and brass. The use of contrasting wood stains brings warmth to the monochrome theme, a concept that has quickly become a favorite of Cheshire Property Studio.

To elevate the space, the design incorporates two-toned wood, metal detailing, and suede insets. A multi-functional TV mirror and a porcelain-tiled open fire add layers of luxury and practicality. The room’s centrepiece, a bespoke marbled diamond-cut coffee table, exemplifies craftsmanship at its finest, demonstrating the studio’s commitment to high-quality, tailored designs.

Cheshire Property Studio’s ability to blend traditional Japanese elements with contemporary design has resulted in a formal living room that is not only beautiful but also highly functional. This project underscores the studio’s reputation for creating elegant, sophisticated spaces that meet the unique needs and tastes of their clients.
