Atelier Branco & Fairley has unveiled a stunning contemporary property nestled on the shores of Carlingford Lough, Northern Ireland, featuring private beach access and waterfront views. This remarkable project seamlessly blends contemporary architecture with luxurious and elegant interiors, reflecting the personalities and lifestyles of its well-travelled owners.

The clients, who have a second home in Palma de Mallorca, desired a residence that incorporates the best elements of the boutique hotels they frequent, combined with the bright, light interiors characteristic of their Mediterranean home. They sought a house that would balance contemporary and eclectic modern styles without appearing contrived or out of place.

One of the standout features of this home is the entrance lobby, which Atelier Branco & Fairley designed to complement the property’s architecture while adding character and interest. A sequence of exquisite wall and ceiling panels, crafted from high-quality burled sycamore veneers with intricate marquetry detailing, conceals the door to the home gym. These panels create a welcoming atmosphere and draw visitors into the dramatic double-height entrance hall, their wave motifs echoing the rolling waters of Carlingford Lough and the Cooley Mountains beyond.

The principal bedroom suite is another highlight of the project. It features a custom-designed bed space with elegant, gently curved leather-clad wall panels, mirrored inlay panels, and brushed brass detailing. Cantilevered side tables in high-gloss veneers flank the bed, and an art installation inspired by marine life elements like shells and sea urchins adds a unique touch. This installation, crafted from hand-blown glass and porcelain, serves as the jewel in the crown of the suite.

Atelier Branco & Fairley drew inspiration from the captivating surroundings of Carlingford Lough, subtly incorporating beachside elements into the design without being overly themed. Every detail of the project was meticulously curated, demonstrating a commitment to quality and excellence. Custom-designed furniture pieces were manufactured specifically for this home, creating a perfectly crafted sanctuary for the clients.
