Ledbury Studio has masterfully transformed a lower ground floor into an exquisite open-plan space, incorporating a family kitchen, dining area, snug, and hallway/boot room. The client’s design brief sought to marry the cool simplicity of Scandinavian style with the warm, inviting atmosphere of Australia, her native country. Ledbury Studio responded with a sophisticated blend of materials and thoughtful design elements, creating a cohesive and luxurious environment.

The kitchen stands out with its mixture of pale oak and painted oak cabinets, accented by patinated brass handles, kickplates, and a hanging rack that illuminates the island. This lighting rack is notably suspended from a barrel-vaulted ceiling, which is tiled to add drama and depth to the space. Patinated brass frames around the oak drawers and fine detailing on the cooker hood further enhance the kitchen’s elegance. The fluted oak panelling on the back of the island and breakfast bar, combined with a Statuario marble worksurface featuring a waterfall edge, underscores the kitchen’s pared-back luxury.

This harmonious theme extends throughout the entire lower ground floor. The dining area features a fluted sideboard/drinks cabinet, while the snug includes a bespoke TV cabinet. Tall cupboards flanking the boot area in the hallway continue the consistent design narrative, setting a quietly luxurious vibe across the space. The key design elements of wood, metal, and stone integrate seamlessly, ensuring a fluid transition from the entry hall through the kitchen and snug room into the dining room.

Ledbury Studio’s meticulous attention to detail is evident in the careful selection of materials, ensuring all elements work together in perfect harmony. The design uses furniture architecturally to define and create the environment, seamlessly integrating functional requirements within its aesthetic. The result is a space that not only meets the client’s needs but also exudes a sense of refined elegance and warmth, embodying the best of Scandinavian simplicity and Australian warmth.
