Trenzseater has unveiled its latest interior design project, the Brown Residence, a grand and opulent home located on the outskirts of Christchurch. Commissioned during an extensive renovation, Trenzseater was tasked with creating a unique and inspiring interior that balanced luxury with practicality for everyday living. The result is a richly layered and visually captivating space that reflects both refined elegance and personal character.

From the outset, Trenzseater’s brief was to deliver a cohesive design scheme that seamlessly integrated window furnishings, wallpapers, lighting, furniture, artwork, mirrors, and accessories. The interior is filled with sophisticated finishes and artisanal details, featuring an abundance of texture and materials that elevate every room. In the entrance hallway, a dramatic alligator wallpaper on the ceiling leads to adjoining spaces adorned with gold leaf wallpaper, enveloping guests in warmth and luxury from the moment they step inside.

Lighting plays a central role in the design, with grand oversized fixtures in brushed brass throughout. A standout feature is the custom designed crystal waterfall chandelier in the main stairway, comprising 21 pendants that shimmer like crystal rain, reflected in a statement mirror. Below, the marble mosaic entry floor features Nero Marquina and Calacatta marbles arranged in an intricate geometric pattern.

Custom furniture upholstered in velvets, wools, and antiqued leather is paired with high-gloss tables and European rugs, creating a sense of curated sophistication. The wine cellar beneath the floating staircase, constructed from American Oak and matt black metalwork with LED lighting, adds both functionality and drama.

Natural materials such as seagrass wallpapers provide a textured backdrop for the client’s art and artefacts, enhancing the home’s timeless elegance. Trenzseater has succeeded in crafting a residence that is both liveable and luxuriously layered.
