Adura Design has completed an ambitious and emotionally resonant transformation of a five bedroom period property in St. John’s Wood, delivering a culturally grounded family home in just four weeks. Known as Project Elm Tree, the interior redesign was commissioned by a high profile Nigerian client seeking to create a second home in London for his children and grandchildren. The goal was to craft a welcoming space that reflected both heritage and modern comfort, a home away from home with timeless elegance.

The £9 million property had previously undergone renovation that stripped away much of its original architectural charm. Adura Design was tasked with restoring character and soul, reintroducing traditional English elements like coving and cornices, and infusing the interiors with warmth and cultural identity. A freestanding fireplace was added to enhance atmosphere, while tactile materials and thoughtful spatial planning brought life back into the home.

Working under tight time constraints, Adura Design demonstrated remarkable efficiency and purpose. Every item was carefully chosen from readily available sources, yet nothing felt rushed or generic. The design team incorporated culturally significant elements, such as a traditional Nigerian game that served as both a decorative feature and a personal reference to the client’s childhood. Pieces from brands like Julian Chichester were selected for their texture and elegance, with honeycomb lamps subtly nodding to organic African forms.

The vast living area was intelligently zoned for entertaining, family gatherings, and quiet moments, ensuring both function and intimacy. Each space feels intentional, from heritage inspired lighting to curated artwork. The result is a home that balances tradition with liveability, emotion with elegance. Adura Design delivered not just an interior renovation, but a deeply personal sanctuary filled with comfort, pride, and a strong sense of belonging.
