Laura U Design Collective has completed a vibrant and highly personal interior renovation in Houston’s Highland Village, transforming a blank slate spec home into a bold and expressive residence filled with colour, character, and curated luxury. The project was shaped by the personality and passions of its owner, a fashion forward entrepreneur with a love of travel, art, and design. The result is a home that balances exuberance with elegance and feels deeply reflective of its owner’s lifestyle.

Beginning with strong architectural bones and ample natural light, Laura U Design Collective infused the space with layered richness and joyful detail. Inspired by iconic pieces like the Missoni Mah Jong sectional, the design narrative developed through a palette of jewel tones, sculptural lighting, and carefully chosen textiles. The team transformed functional areas such as the mudroom, pantry, and powder room into stylish and expressive spaces, complete with custom millwork and bold wallpapers.

Throughout the home, artistic flourishes add flair and sophistication. A lacquered ceiling in the dining room, fuchsia built ins in the study, and tartan upholstery in the bar reflect a fashion forward sensibility while maintaining a tailored feel. In contrast, the primary suite offers calm with hand finished details, bespoke seating, and a softer, layered palette of neutrals.

Laura U Design Collective collaborated closely with the homeowner to interpret her passions through design, crafting interiors that support both connection and creativity. Each room was designed to stand on its own while remaining part of a cohesive whole, with a consistent point of view that unifies the home. With its expressive colours, curated artwork, and sculptural furnishings, the Highland Village Contemporary project is a vibrant reflection of personal style, joyful, elevated, and unmistakably unique.
