Stewart + Stewart Design has transformed a four-level waterfront residence in Darling Point into an exquisite sanctuary of sophistication, seamlessly blending understated luxury with artisanal craftsmanship. Originally tasked with redesigning the entry, master suite, and pool terrace, Stewart + Stewart Design expanded their scope to create a cohesive vision across the entire home, ensuring fluidity and harmony in every space.

The home, designed for a world-renowned plastic surgeon and his family, reflects their dynamic lifestyle—balancing elegant entertaining, functional family living, and a curated showcase for their impressive art collection, which includes works by Banksy, Andy Warhol, and Damien Hirst. Stewart + Stewart Design approached the project with meticulous attention to detail, crafting interiors that exude refinement while remaining warm and inviting.

A striking sculptural staircase serves as the home’s centrepiece, a dramatic plaster and stone ribbon uniting three levels. Its craftsmanship, the final commission of a revered artisan, adds both emotional depth and architectural grandeur. Throughout the home, contrasting textures define distinct spaces: ebonized finishes cocoon the Cigar Room, Theatre, and Formal Powder Room, while the remainder of the residence embraces light and openness to enhance the spectacular Sydney Harbour views.

Each element of the design contributes to a cohesive narrative of elegance and individuality. Bespoke furnishings by Christophe Delcourt and Kelly Wearstler complement the home’s curated aesthetic, while carefully considered materiality allows natural light to dance across surfaces, mirroring the shimmering waterfront beyond. Stewart + Stewart Design has masterfully created a residence that balances artistry with functionality, ensuring a timeless and deeply personal retreat for its inhabitants.
