Blainey North’s design for a five-storey space in Mayfair is a landmark celebration of skin, the body, and the gaze. Commissioned by Dr Joseph Hkeik, a sculptor-turned-aesthetic doctor, the project reflects his belief in honouring individual beauty over symmetrical perfection. North’s concept draws inspiration from the great figurative sculptors and their exploration of identity, physicality and perception.

Each floor is dedicated to a sculptural medium, Resin, Paper, Wood, Clay and Stone, tracing an aesthetic journey that mirrors the act of shedding layers to reveal inner beauty. A collaborative group of artists contributed to the interpretation of these mediums, ranging from classical to experimental.

The reception is a tactile and visual tribute to the body, centred around a pink onyx and clay water feature and terracotta plinths shaped like female forms. A Niina Kratz textile artwork recalling skin hangs above the original marble fireplace. French panelled walls are wrapped in blush pink Pierre Frey fabric threaded with silver. The curved timber and leather reception desk sits beneath a Lee Broom plaster and glass pendant, referencing classical drapery.

At the heart of the building, a two-storey glass void is finished in ombre clay, from deep rose to soft peach. Christopher Boots’ crystal “Wings of Pegasus” suspend mid-air, symbolising creativity and divine beauty. The Paper Floor features ceiling roses by Andy Singleton, modelled on Poseidon and Venus, glowing above treatment beds. Through material, myth and technology, North creates a poetic space that fuses the past with the future of beauty.
