Lori Sellmer Design Inc. brings a refined, European-inspired vision to life in this custom home nestled in North Glenmore, SW Calgary. Originally conceived as a renovation for a close friend, the project naturally evolved into a full custom home—perfectly tailored to the dynamic lifestyle of an active family.

The design fuses a minimalist, Nordic aesthetic with warm Spanish influences and a deep appreciation for nature. Throughout the home, Lori Sellmer’s signature attention to detail is evident: from the artisan-plastered fireplace with rough wood beams to hidden doors and panelled walls that showcase exceptional craftsmanship.

The kitchen and dining area exemplify the firm’s sophisticated approach. A warm oak island, handmade tiles, and traditional mouldings blend old-world charm with clean, modern lines. A reimagined layout—including a secondary front porch entrance and asymmetrical range wall—enhances both flow and function.

Sustainable materials are used such as Dekton countertops and an energy-efficient induction cooktop. Spaces like the cosy reading nook, tucked into a formerly transitional stair landing, highlight Lori Sellmer’s talent for transforming overlooked corners into meaningful, liveable moments.

Personal elements—such as a bespoke chandelier crafted from the client’s antler collection—add depth and story. The design pays homage to local nature reserves, particularly Weaselhead, and embodies a uniquely refined Canadian ethos.

With every detail, Lori Sellmer Design Inc. creates not just a home, but a narrative—elevating daily life through thoughtful, timeless design.
