KEMSI has completed a distinctive interior design project for a private residence in South London, crafting a calm and refined space tailored for multi generational living. The design masterfully balances modern elegance with timeless detailing, creating an environment that feels both grounded and expansive. Drawing on a rich tapestry of cultural influences, including Australian openness, European craftsmanship, and ancestral Filipino memories of bamboo weaving, KEMSI has shaped a home that is emotionally resonant and visually sophisticated.

Every detail in the residence has been considered to enhance the experience of daily living. Asymmetrical custom joinery, sculptural furniture, and soft lighting all contribute to a sense of thoughtful tranquility. Curved architectural forms and raw, tactile finishes add warmth and dimension, allowing the home to feel lived in and deeply personal. Antique pieces sit comfortably alongside bespoke elements, blending history and modernity in a way that feels effortless.

Sustainability played a quiet yet essential role in the project. KEMSI worked intentionally with durable, natural materials chosen for their ability to age gracefully. Timbers, handcrafted objects, and soulful finishes were selected not only for their visual appeal but also for their longevity and emotional depth. The design ethos behind the residence, named Olánduō, embraces the idea that beauty lives in the perfectly imperfect.

KEMSI’s approach results in a space that transcends trend driven aesthetics, focusing instead on creating a home where the everyday feels extraordinary. The residence is not only a functional space for family life across generations but also a deeply considered environment that reflects a harmonious blend of cultures, craftsmanship, and care.
