AhA Interiors Corp. approached this renovation with a deep respect for the apartment’s historic setting, preserving its architectural integrity while introducing refined modern updates. The design carefully restored original details, including the parquet floors, vintage doors, and polished brass hardware, allowing the home’s historic charm to shine through. Graceful arches, a defining feature of the building, were either preserved or thoughtfully recreated to ensure visual harmony and continuity.

In the living and dining areas, AhA Interiors Corp. transformed previously dim, disconnected rooms into a cohesive, sophisticated space. A new dropped ceiling conceals updated wiring and supports layered ambient lighting, while a relocated dining area framed by black-trimmed windows enhances the sense of light and flow. Modern comforts such as a floating sofa, bespoke bar cabinet, and Frame TV are balanced by warm wood tones and textured finishes that honour the apartment’s period character.

The redesigned kitchen serves as the heart of the home. Once confined to a single wall, it now features a functional island and a refined material palette of brass, stone, and wood. Herringbone floor tiles subtly reference the cobblestone streets of Forest Hills Gardens, linking the interior to its architectural context.

Throughout the home, AhA Interiors Corp. demonstrated exceptional craftsmanship, from refinishing delicate parquet flooring to recreating precise archways. The result is a timeless, sophisticated residence that celebrates the building’s heritage while offering comfort and practicality for modern living.
