Susan Chesney Interiors has completed a first floor transformation of a three room master suite, creating a refined sanctuary designed to support both relaxation and everyday living. The project, which includes an antechamber, bathroom and spacious bedroom with lounge, was conceived as a retreat for a professional couple seeking comfort, cohesion and a sense of escape within their home.

Susan Chesney Interiors approached the design with a focus on creating a calm and uplifting environment that feels as restorative in the morning as it does at the end of the day. Drawing inspiration from the quiet luxury of boutique hotels, Susan Chesney Interiors developed a scheme that balances elegance with liveability, ensuring the spaces remain welcoming rather than overly formal.

A carefully considered interplay of lighting, texture and subtle material variation underpins the design. Susan Chesney Interiors layered soft textiles and rich colours with more defined elements, creating depth and visual interest while maintaining a clean and composed aesthetic. Integrated storage was prioritised throughout, allowing the suite to remain uncluttered and supportive of daily routines.

The spatial arrangement was key to the project’s success. Susan Chesney Interiors introduced a gentle progression between rooms, with colour and atmosphere deepening from the bathroom through the antechamber and into the bedroom. This approach creates a cohesive flow while allowing each space to retain its own identity. Negative space was used intentionally, forming areas for rest, socialising and quiet reflection.

The design also responds sensitively to the character of the period home, respecting its original proportions while introducing a more contemporary, layered sensibility. Reflecting the clients’ cosmopolitan lifestyle and appreciation for art and atmosphere, Susan Chesney Interiors has delivered a suite that feels both personal and timeless, offering a serene and luxurious environment tailored to modern living.
