Kitchens by Holloways has completed a striking open plan kitchen renovation in Surrey, transforming a once cramped and fragmented ground floor into a light filled family hub that combines elegant entertaining spaces with highly practical day to day living.

Working in collaboration with Christopher David Design Ltd, Kitchens by Holloways was commissioned to design and build bespoke cabinetry for a complete reconfiguration of the home’s principal living areas. The brief called for a cohesive layout that would zone the expansive footprint without compromising the sense of openness and connection throughout the space.

At the centre of the project is the kitchen, dining and living area, where Kitchens by Holloways introduced its in frame Shaker style Ludlow Range. The cabinetry is finished in a carefully curated palette of creams, rich blues and earthy greens inspired by the surrounding garden landscape. Dramatic Verde Italia polished granite worktops provide the visual anchor of the scheme, unifying the colours while introducing the organic movement of natural stone.

To support the client’s entertaining requirements, Kitchens by Holloways integrated a bespoke built in bar adjacent to the dining space. Equally important was the practical functionality needed for family life. A concealed door was seamlessly incorporated into the kitchen run, leading to a hidden back of house zone containing a fully equipped utility room and a dedicated boot room. By continuing the same premium finishes and colour palette into these spaces, Kitchens by Holloways created a unified and clutter free interior where everyday household activity can be discreetly concealed.

The success of the project lies in its balance of luxury and practicality. Kitchens by Holloways used bespoke cabinetry and architectural ceiling details to define different zones without introducing physical walls, preserving the open plan character of the home. The design also responds sensitively to its Surrey setting through a biophilic palette and materials that reflect the surrounding landscape.

The project demanded exceptional craftsmanship, with in house British cabinetmakers handcrafting the in frame cabinetry and specialist stone fabricators meticulously aligning the complex veining of the Verde Italia granite to create a continuous, flowing surface throughout the kitchen.
