Interior Designer: Dream Design

Dream Design has completed a contemporary kitchen project for a country home in Sway, creating a space that seamlessly connects everyday family living with panoramic views across a nearby lake.

The project was conceived around a simple yet transformative idea developed by Dream Design. Rather than treating the landscape as a backdrop to the room, the design team placed the surrounding scenery at the centre of the planning process. The brief called for a calm and highly functional kitchen that would support daily life while making the most of the property’s exceptional natural setting.

A key design decision shaped the entire scheme. Dream Design positioned the sink within the central island, eliminating the need for cabinetry along the exterior wall. This approach allowed the installation of a panoramic window set below worktop height, creating uninterrupted views towards the lake and opening the room directly to the landscape beyond. The result is a kitchen where the connection between interior and exterior becomes part of the everyday experience.

Dream Design also focused on creating a layout that feels intuitive and effortless to use. The island acts as the focal point of the room, supporting food preparation, social interaction and daily family routines. A breakfast bar provides an informal gathering space, while the open arrangement encourages easy movement throughout the kitchen and towards the adjacent terrace.

The material palette contributes significantly to the room’s calm atmosphere. Deep brown cabinetry is paired with bronze detailing, warm oak finishes and soft grey work surfaces to create a refined and enduring aesthetic. Book matched marble effect wall panels introduce visual impact without disrupting the overall sense of balance and restraint.

Throughout the project, Dream Design sought to combine technical precision with understated elegance. Every element serves a clear purpose, from the cabinetry and island to the carefully positioned window. The completed kitchen demonstrates how thoughtful planning can transform a functional space into a living environment that feels both beautiful and deeply connected to its surroundings.
