West One Bathrooms has transformed the master en suite of a beautifully renovated Decimus Burton style residence, creating a luxurious retreat that combines thoughtful spatial planning, bespoke craftsmanship and a richly layered material palette. Forming part of a wider collection of bathrooms that also includes a powder room, guest bathroom and children’s bathroom, the project delivers a cohesive design language while allowing each space to retain its own distinct character.

The brief called for bathrooms that respected the heritage of the Victorian property while introducing a contemporary sense of glamour. For the master en suite, West One Bathrooms reconfigured two separate rooms into one generous space that maximises the home’s impressive ceiling heights and proportions. The clients requested a boutique hotel inspired environment complete with both a spacious walk in shower and a freestanding bath, balancing practicality with indulgence.

A defining feature of the project is the innovative layout. Rather than positioning the bath against the room’s perimeter, West One Bathrooms placed it in front of a half height dividing wall with a glazed panel above, allowing it to become the focal point while subtly zoning the space without interrupting its openness. This careful planning creates a natural flow and ensures the large room feels warm and inviting rather than overwhelming.

Materiality plays an equally important role in the design. Layers of natural stone, ceramic tiles and warm timber finishes are complemented by understated limestone effect flooring, creating a calm backdrop that allows refined detailing to take centre stage. Carefully integrated storage, recessed shower niches and a heated towel rail positioned conveniently beside the shower ensure the bathroom is as functional as it is elegant.

Layered ambient lighting enhances the atmosphere throughout the day, transitioning effortlessly from bright daylight to a softer evening setting. By combining timeless materials, practical detailing and intelligent zoning, West One Bathrooms has created a master en suite that celebrates the character of the Victorian home while delivering a sophisticated, highly liveable space that forms the luxurious centrepiece of the home’s carefully curated collection of bathrooms.
