The oceanfront condominium was conceived as a refined second residence for clients based in the northern United States who desired a vibrant yet comfortable retreat in Florida. The interior design was led by Sarah Z Designs, whose approach focused on creating a home that would feel equally suited to everyday living and entertaining while celebrating its exceptional coastal setting. The clients’ long-standing appreciation for the color blue played a defining role in shaping the project’s aesthetic direction.

A calm architectural foundation of neutral finishes allows expressive design features to take center stage. The most striking element is the dramatic Cristallo blue stone introduced in the kitchen and dining area, which serves as a focal point and anchors the home’s overall palette. Shades of oceanic blue paired with warm sandy beiges flow throughout the residence, subtly reflecting the natural tones of the sea and shoreline visible from the property.

The project involved a complete renovation that required thoughtful planning to work around existing structural elements while improving circulation and spatial flow. Sarah Z Designs reconfigured the layout to establish a more open-plan arrangement, allowing the main living areas to feel airy, connected, and welcoming. Custom millwork and tailored architectural detailing were introduced throughout the home to enhance both functionality and visual cohesion.

One notable design challenge involved a structural column positioned in the centre of the open living space. Rather than allowing it to disrupt the layout, the design team transformed it into a purposeful feature by integrating it within a bespoke island element. The column was wrapped in mirrored surfaces, reflecting both the interior and the ocean views beyond while dispersing light throughout the room.

Through layered textures, sculptural lighting, and a carefully considered palette inspired by the surrounding coastline, the design achieves a sophisticated interpretation of biophilic principles, resulting in a residence that feels both serene and visually dynamic.
