MM Interiors were enlisted for the interior design of this duplex penthouse conversion for a private client with a family of seven. The client, a regular visitor to Italy, was inspired by Roman style and particularly loved Fendi furniture. They wanted each room in the property to have a glamorous feel, each with its own statement piece. Using this inspiration, MM Interiors incorporated rich regal colours of purple, red navy, emerald green and gold to bring their vision to live. The majestic atmosphere was created through bespoke pieces such as the amethyst wall art which was handpicked in Brazil and handcrafted in the UK.

It was important for the client to have several spaces for family and personal entertainment, each with its own unique feel. This was achieved in the formal living area with a large round sofa inspired by the Roman Colosseum facing a bespoke antique mirror, brass inlay and marble splashback to the TV unit and Italian red marble on the formal dining table which highlighted the Roman brief. The upstairs living room, second kitchen and outside patio area were designed purely for entertaining family and friends. MM Interiors provided a unique rich soft velvet curved navy sofa with a statement piece chandelier. Every family member’s personal colour choices were considered when designing their bedrooms. Each wanted a statement room that also provided comfort and style.

The user journey throughout the house was an important factor to create a safe, soothing energy. In the entrance, MM Interiors sourced and created a handmade bespoke amethyst sculptured wall art. Positioned opposite the doorway, this ensured any stresses or negative energies entering the home were absorbed by the protective crystals. Ceramic butterflies on a silk wallpapered hallway and a two-tone padded satin wall up the stairs are welcoming and soothing for the family as they move through the house.

The design provides a statement piece luxury home suited for a family with comfort throughout which was achieved in the fabrics and textures used. Over 80% of the items used are vegan and eco-friendly. With accentuated, bold colours the designers have demonstrated that a family home can have personality. MM Interiors loved the challenge of bringing the historic Roman style to life in a contemporary, modern vision, fit for a wonderful family.
