A single parent from Asia purchased an apartment in London for her son and daughter to live comfortably and study well during their postgraduate degrees while she runs her business in Asia.

Element Living was inspired to create a ‘Healing Home’ for the family who had recently experienced difficult times.

It was the piano they loved playing…loved so strongly and happily. For this reason, the design scheme ensures a balance of study with a sense of relaxation. Two desks were implemented into space for studying, with a piano for resting and perhaps coping with grey days.

The Piano corner is a theatrical, focal point in the room. The design works so well because of the composition of the stunning silk from India in burnt orange and ocean blue creating a dramatic effect when used in the large sliding screen to conceal the TV against the backdrop wall in a soft black with blue undertones, and the different heights and distinctive shapes of the two pendant lights projecting both direct and indirect light onto the ceiling.

Element Living also created an intimate dining space for the family to separate the study and eating areas. The use of a sculptural chandelier adds a sophisticated feel to the area.
