For Mirabello, the design of Penthouse – Tower 21 is a clear representation of the future of Qatar. In terms of design, they have adventured into the future without an ignorance towards their heritage. This project is a mix of old and new; modern and classical, and a combination of many cultures and backgrounds.

An international, art and furniture loving, middle aged couple with two teenagers wanted to convert a wonderful 800 square meter two-story penthouse into a timeless, functional and welcoming home. Though the family had no specific preference for the design style, their key request for Mirabello was to organise their chaos – over the past twenty years the couple has collected a wide variety of art and furniture pieces and wanted to use as much of their collection as possible in their new home. The couple loves to cook and entertain and thus also asked for a kitchen design and spacial layout could accommodate both activities, and the terrace area has also been divided for lounging and dining, including a space for the husband’s barbeque.

Open to Mirabello’s whimsical design ideas, the owners allowed the creative team to exercise a creative liberty that is uncommon in the region.  Their design team treated the architectural finishes of the home as the canvas for the collection of art and furniture. Rather than competing, each of the elements supported the other, while being individually viable. Therefore, the end result is welcoming rather than imposing. Curating and incorporating the wide variety of art and furniture was a challenge for Mirabello, though became the reason that the finished product was so unique.
