Project Name: Chapter House

Location: Covent Garden, London

Developer: Londonewcastle

Londonewcastle’s latest development, Chapter House, has partnered with ELLE Decoration to create a highly editorial example of modern British living in the development’s penthouse. Situated in the heart of Covent Garden theatre land and a stone’s throw from the Royal Opera House it offers a private members’ club feel as only a small bespoke development can. Bringing the pages of the magazine to life it aims to appeal to likeminded design and culture aficionados, both at home and internationally.

As Elle Decoration has authority over global interior design, their brief for this apartment was to create a space that would carry global appeal. Setting and forecasting trends and implementing them into this penthouse was an important factor so that this apartment would remain current as a show apartment while the development of Chapter House was being sold.

Elle Decoration’s task was to encompass the tradition, culture, innovation and craftsmanship that Covent Garden is renowned for, as well as complementing the architectural design and finish of the apartment, from the herringbone flooring to the floor to ceiling windows and marble kitchen.

The design scheme, conceptualised and orchestrated by Editor in Chief, Ben Spriggs, exemplifies the renowned credentials of British design in its fixtures, furniture and accessories. It speaks to the past, present and future of British interior design, calling on time-honoured craftsmanship, principles of modernity as well as the use of traditional design in innovative ways. Not only is the show penthouse a celebration of the British home for the British market, but it also acts as a point of visual reference for overseas markets to amplify the strengths and global influence of the UK’s design community.
