Project Name: Chelsea Maisonette

Location: London, United Kingdom

Architect: Prestige Architects

This 1,500 square feet maisonette is located just off the King’s Road in Chelsea. The property extends over the top three floors of a traditional terrace house and needed a full refurbishment and reconfiguration to maximise the space.

The property had been untouched for around 20 years, the client’s brief was for a complete renovation to bring the property up to current standards with a traditional design approach. The clients also wanted more modern technologies incorporated such as underfloor heating and AV.

Prestige Architects introduced a cloak room and additional storage by the entrance hall with a timber floor which allowed for a warm and welcoming feeling to the entrance of the property. All the bespoke joinery throughout the house allows for an extremely efficient use of the space and considerable storage in the bedrooms and living spaces.

As with many of their projects, Prestige Architects work with clients based abroad and are rarely able to come on site to see progressions. This was an example of such project. For Prestige, it was exciting to see the reaction of the client on upon completion and detailing during the two solo visits across the entire project. Prestige Architects always create a detailed “design link” which for this project was oak bead details throughout the project including the bespoke internal doors in conjunction with a dual colour approach.
