Project Name: Gorgeously Grand Home

Location: Steyn City, Johannesburg, South Africa (exclusive residential housing estate)

Date Completed: September 2019

Interior Designer: Audi Snyman

Audi Snyman Interior Design’s project is a 1800m2, 2 storey home with additional basement cinema and 2 double garages. Set in the 2000-acre exclusive, luxurious private lifestyle estate of Steyn City, where state-of-the-art private homes house local and international residents from all over the world, this residence combines home comfort and opulence.

The clients wanted a neutral colour scheme across the residence. These were therefore layered with luxurious textures and accent colours that run throughout, adding depth.  Certain areas had a unique feel – the childrens’ bedrooms reflect their personalities whilst the wife’s study was her playground and the husband’s elevated lounge was customised to his needs. The husband’s favourite colour is blue, so different shades and textures of this were woven into the design.

Audi Snyman Interior Design had to join the clients’ differing tastes for the perfect home. A timeless approach was important to her, whilst he favoured modernity. Thus, clever styling with an innovative approach and a widespread knowledge of interior design helped blend their different choices and make the design work. The entranceway embraces the symmetry and style of classic design. With impactful elegance, this leaves a lasting memory for each guest entering the home. The lounge brief was again luxury, but still have a cosy and practical feel. The bathrooms are elegant, with clean lines and luxurious finishes.

Though wanting a family-friendly design, the home also needed to be the perfect destination for entertaining. Various recreational areas have been integrated with ample space. The open plan kitchen is perfect for entertainment, flowing seamlessly into the outside entertainment area which overlooks the pool. The residence boasts three indoor lounge areas, an indoor drinks and pool bar, a pool table area, basement cinema, two poolside lounge areas, and an outside fireplace with easy seating geared for many hours of laughter which was important to Audi Snyman’s clients.

Many of the bespoke pieces in the home required professional artisan skills. This is evidenced by the outdoor sculpture water feature and fine art in the lounge which depicts the owners’ children. The dining room chandelier is manufactured from recycled glass and strung together to create a unique and beautiful light fixture, which became a great conversation piece at dinner parties.
