House Waterstone is a multi-level eclectic home designed for a family of art lovers. Kim H.Nieu Interior Design are client focussed designers, welcoming each bespoke brief to design a home which suits the client and goes beyond expectations. The interior design for this home is vibrant, filled with life and personality without overwhelming the space.

The brief for House Waterstone was to create a warm, inviting, and interesting home. One that intrigues guests and showcases the client’s extensive art collection. The needs of the family meant that Kim H.Nieu Interior Design had to create a flexible space that caters for smaller family living, but also has the scope for extensive entertainment options.

It is a very eclectic space that is striking yet comfortable and inviting. It is a design that truly speaks to the client’s personality and this is this relationship between client and space which makes the design work well. The use of colour in the space is a key aspect of the design, creating a strong base tone with dark charcoal walls that highlight the art, and then experimenting with bright colours and quirkiness to capture the uniqueness of the owners. One of the designer’s favourite elements is the integration of various very different textures, from timber to stone to glass and high-gloss surfaces. A paint technique specialist was brought in to create all the custom textured wall finishes throughout the home to ensure that these were the high quality of work that is correspondent with Kim H.Nieu Interior Design.

The exterior wall colour was matched to that of the interior in order to blur the lines between the interior and its exterior environment. We also used a lot of art and sculptures on the exterior, to tie back to the interior art collection. The extensive use of glass and full length windows welcomes the views and seamlessly blends the surroundings and interior design together. In the outdoor space, the pergola eases the journey from indoor to outdoor and extending the living and entertaining spaces of the home.
