The stunning and unique custom home designed by ZED Studio Inc reflects the clients’ extensive world travels and sophisticated lifestyle. The designers faced the challenge of adhering to Agricultural Land Regulations while creating a personalised and functional design that reflected the clients’ individual tastes and preferences. The result was a beautiful and original design that exceeded the clients’ expectations.

The design approach taken by ZED Studio Inc was tailored to the clients’ lifestyle, needs, and wants. The team drew inspiration from the clients’ extensive world travels and their lifelong passions to create a personalized and original design. Relational design played a key role in the success of the project, as each room was inspired by a functional art piece, reflecting the clients’ appreciation for the arts.

The design theory was focused on removing as many hallways as possible and using transitory spaces to flow with the clients’ requests for an entertaining home that also had formal spaces. The team achieved this by inviting in copious amounts of light through high sloped ceilings, creating well-lived spaces without the need for excessive lighting. Almost every room opens onto the pool and generous outdoor living spaces, encouraging the inhabitants and guests to connect with nature through the built environment.

The focus on how light plays throughout the home is reflected in a sundial design with a shard and circle design anchor, creating an artistic and inviting atmosphere. The large room dividing peninsula fireplace that is integrated into the sundial shard design serves as a functional room divider and a striking centrepiece of the home.

The designers paid attention to architectural expression, materials, and functionality to create a cohesive and beautiful home that reflected the clients’ individual tastes and preferences without being ostentatious. The home’s design feels small from the street, giving a sense of humble beginnings, and expands as you travel through the home, revealing the inner workings of a masterpiece that was not expected when first discovered. The home is built to higher standards, is energy efficient, and prepped for future solar power installations.
