The 2-bedroom, 2,300 square foot urban apartment located in Philadelphia, USA underwent a comprehensive renovation under the stewardship of Architect Rasmussen Su. The dated apartment underwent a head-to-toe renovation resulting in a light-filled pied-à-terre situated at the edge of Philadelphia’s historical Rittenhouse Square.

In order to improve the overall aesthetic and functionality of the space, new oversize openings were added and fitted with custom steel and glass doors to extend views and light to previously dark and disjointed spaces. The “back of house” area was completely reimagined by combining several small service spaces into a generous open kitchen with new windows and doors, providing access to a private terrace.

The new millwork and trim feature clean lines that complement the original detailing, creating an overall timeless aesthetic that serves as the perfect backdrop for the owner’s exquisite collection of artwork and furnishings.

The renovation of this urban apartment has successfully brought together functionality and aesthetic appeal to create a modern and comfortable living space. Architect Rasmussen Su has masterfully blended the historical details with modern design elements to create a space that is not only beautiful but also functional. The result is a sophisticated pied-à-terre that is perfectly suited to the needs and style of its owner.
